The Duchess of Cambridge glittered in what was one of Princess Diana's favourite tiaras. The tiara was given to Diana as a wedding present from the Queen in 1981.

The Queen had been left it by her grandmother Queen Mary who commissioned the piece in 1914. It has pearls hanging from diamond arches capped with lovers knots and Kate teamed it with diamond earrings and a pale blue lace dress last night.

The diplomatic reception is held every year and around 1,500 dignitaries attend along with senior members of the royal family.

The six-month old royal was captured on camera by her mother Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge at Anmer Hall, the family home in Norfolk, eastern England, early this month, the palace said.
